The manually adjusting trim tabs are stable until you physically adjust them. And let's face it, you need to work about safely operating your boat and not about making constant adjustments to your trim tabs. These Nauticus trim tabs are truly "SMART". The biggest mistake you can make with trim tabs is purchasing another brand.

Here's how they work:
The nitrogen gas actuators provide lift at the stern of the boat by holding the trim plate down during acceleration. The amount of lift is determined by the actuator load rating and the trim plate adjustment, which is done at the time of installation. Nauticus tabs start in a downward angle to maximize lift at slow speeds. As the boat accelerates, the water pushes up on the trim plates providing lift to the stern which minimizes bow rise, and allows the boat to plane quickly.

Once the water pressure exceeds the actuator load rating (maximum lift) the trim plates move up to a horizontal position eliminating any drag. Even when cruising Nauticus trim tabs continue to work like shock absorbers. The constant adjustment to sea conditions allow Nauticus trim tabs to provide remarkable stability in turns, while crossing waves, cruising, and running at maximum speeds. No more sliding, porpoising, or chine walking. The dampen reaction of the actuators senses changes in water pressure to provide smooth and undetectable reaction changes.

Nauticus vs. Other Brands:
While most other trim tabs offer increased performance, Nauticus offers key advantages over competitive brands. The first is the relative ease of installation. Smart tabs can be installed by the average boater in less than an hour using simple tools (screwdriver, wrench, and a drill). Each easily mounts to either side of the transom with attachment hardware included in the box. The other key advantage of Nauticus trim tabs is that they are fully automatic. Once installed and adjusted, they do not require any operator control while underway. With other brands, the boater must constantly adjust the tab settings using manual switches according to how the boat is driven.
