How do I properly inflate Sportsstuff products?
Take a look at our Towable Tube Inflation Guide HERE, or on the link at the top of every page.
What can I use to inflate the products?
Sportsstuff recommends an array of pumps that can be used to inflate our line of products. You may use a watersport pump, compressor, shop vac, wet vac, vacuum with a 2-way switch, or a leaf blower. Can I inflate my product by mouth?
Sportsstuff does not recommend that any of their products be inflated by mouth. Please utilize an electric form of inflation or hand/foot pump for smaller inflatables.
Do you need an adapter to inflate Sportsstuff products?
Most air pumps come with a variety of nozzles for different valves found on standard inflatable items. An adaptor is not needed for most standard valve types. How often will I need to add air to my product? You may need to add air periodically to your Sportsstuff product. Products that have extended use over a period of time may require air more readily than those products that are used less frequently. Due to the expansion and contraction of the tubes in hot and cold environments the product can loose air over a period of days, therefore, it may be necessary to add air periodically to assure that the tubes will maintain their firmness. Always check the air level before use. Does Sportsstuff sell a pump to inflate their products? Sportsstuff sells many pumps that customers may purchase for their use with our products. The Double Action Hand Pump can be used to inflate small accessory items. This lightweight plastic pump is designed to inflate/deflate products. This product easily doubles as a handy bilge. The 12 Volt Pump is recommended again for products with a very small surface area. This product has the ability to hook into a cigarette lighter in a car or boat. The 2.5 PSI Electric Pump is a low pressure high volume pump that is great for most sportsstuff products. The Supreme Pump is commercial grade and is recommended to inflate many of our larger products. It is 110V variable speed electric pump with 3.0PSI. These products also come with an array of nozzles to better suit a varying degree of product needs.
Can a hairdryer be used to inflate my product?
Sportsstuff does not recommend using a hair dryer to inflate any of our products. Using a hair dryer can damage the valve beyond repair.
How should the cover fit over Sportsstuff products?
The cover should fit taut over the tube or tubes. It should be wrinkle free and it should be difficult to place your hand in between the tube and cover.
What does it mean if the tube is popping out of the cover?
If the tube is popping out of the cover that means more air needs to be added to the tube. The cover should fit like a second skin over the tube. When do you inflate the safety chamber? What is the purpose of the safety chamber? The safety chamber should always be carefully inflated first before the actual tube. The function of the safety chamber is to provide a support mechanism for the main chamber in the instance of deflation. What is the Speed Valve? AKA Boston Valve. The Speed Valve (Boston Valve) is a valve that holds the air in the tube. This part is a two-way valve. It allows you to put air in a large hole or through the secondary valve which allows more control of the air going in the tube. To deflate, unscrew the whole valve What can I do if I loose my Speed Valve? If you lose your Speed Valve please contact our Customer Service 1-888-814-8833 What is the Multi-valve? The Multi-valve is a valve used on some of our products produced in 2002. It has a built in compressor adapter for easy inflation. It also allows you to put air in a larger hole with your inflation device. How do I tell if the Speed Valve is threaded properly? Check to make sure that there isn't any air leaking. Also, check to make sure the O-ring is in place and isn't missing. Please look closely and make sure that the valve doesn't have any nicks in the valve or the sections you are threading it to. Look closely to make sure that the product is inserted straight into the base. If you have difficulty placing it into the base take it out and start over and turn the valve slowly and carefully. How do I tell if my product is properly inflated? Your product is properly inflated if the cover is wrinkle free and when the tubes are firm to the touch. If you were to pull the cover away from the tube it should readily snap back into place. You should always make sure the product is fully inflated before you begin use. You may need to check the inflation of the product over a period of time. If you are using a product repeatedly it may be necessary to add air throughout the day. What is the type of warranty that Sportsstuff offers? How would I go about finding a leak in my product? To locate a leak in your product carefully Look, Listen and Feel. To LOOK: Many people use a cloth with mild liquid soap to carefully run over the area in suspect. With the soap and a soft cloth you may notice some bubbles forming or water pooling around the hole. To LISTEN: You may also carefully place your ear near the area you suspect where the leak is occurring. You will most likely hear a hissing sound. To FEEL: You may carefully run your hand around the area that you suspect the tube is loosing air from and when you locate the hole you should be able to feel a current on your hand. How do you recommend repairing a hole or puncture? We recommend that you use Sportsstuff PVC Repair (which may be purchased directly from Sportsstuff for $5.95 from this website, or contact us at 1-888-814-8833 to place your order.) Carefully locate the air leak. Please check the valve first. Make sure that the gasket and the washer are seated together to form a good seal. Clean the defective area before applying the adhesive. Dry area completely. For small holes, apply a drop or two of the adhesive to the hole. Mare sure that the entire hole is covered. Let dry for 1 to 2 hours. Check to make sure the adhesive is dry before using the inflatable product again. For larger holes, you may need to apply more than a drop or two to cover the area. It is recommended to use the adhesive sparingly, as it can soften the PVC material. Do not use the product until the repair has completely dried. Test all repairs prior to use. How do you recommend storing a product when it is not in use? We recommend storing our products in a location that isn't affected by extreme temperatures of hot and cold. If exposed to extreme temperatures for a period of time can cause damage to the product. Place the product in a container that will not allow it to be damaged by rodents or other animals. Please store the pool after it is completely dry. If you store a product when it is wet it may retain mold and mildew. Are there any special measures that need to be taken to protect the tube or cover? Sportsstuff products are treated with UV protector on both the tube and the cover. Avoid leaving the product in the sun for long periods of time. Please be sure to store the product in a cool and dry place which has limited sun exposure. If I leave my product in the sun for a period of time can this damage my product? It is recommended to store your product in a cool and dry place when it is not in use. Please do not leave the product in the sun for long periods of time as it may damage the product. What can be done if I believe part of my product is missing or if I lose a part?
If you believe that you are missing a product or have lost a product please contact SportStuff directly at 1-888-814-8833 so that we can rectify the situation immediately. Why is it important that my product is properly inflated? Under-inflation is one of the main causes of damage to the PVC also resulting in seam failure. Air may expand in the bladder during high temperatures making it necessary to release some during use. Under-inflation may result in damage to the Towable also. The stress on the seam is greater on the on the product when it is not properly inflated. For proper inflation, compressor adapters and high-volume Nice air Pumps can be purchased directly from Sportsstuff. Conversely, over-inflation causes seam damage. You must really monitor the inflatable when not in use, especially on hot, sunny days. Keep out of the sun when not in use, and if the tube expands, let some of the air out. Rule of thumb when inflating: Very few wrinkles in the cover and the tube should fit rather snug.
